I ob my instructions for my hp envy RussellVan Anda. Been trying to lapptop this issue for weeks now. This is the most helpful of anyone. No tech specialists offered this option at all. Thank you! My laptop has no such button. I can't believe I've wasted HOURS of my life trying to figure out how I turned off my camera when I first got my laptop, and it was as simple as the stupid switch on the side of the computer.

No Device Manager, no reinstalled drivers. Thank you for this very simple answer. To no avail I also check in the security settings that did not work either I restart tried uninstalling the Microsoft Camera but its a preinstall app it seems so i am not allowed to uninstalled it.

A simple test to see if your webcam is working correctly is by going into the Camera app. This app comes pre-installed on all Windows 10 computers and is also available to download from the Windows Store here. To find the Camera app, go to the search box on the taskbar and search for Camera. Once you have opened the app you should see an image. If this is the case then your camera is working. If you do not see an image, you can try troubleshooting to see if this explains the problem, if not, proceed to the next section.

You should then see a list of available software drivers for your specific laptop. From there, look for Webcam Drivers. If there is an update available, download the file to your PC, and install the software following the instructions given on the HP support webpage.
